Hudbay Minerals in Casa Grande, AZ, is seeking a Sr. Metallurgist - Concentrate Leaching to lead development and implementation of copper concentrate leaching processes.

You will manage pilot testing, scale-up, and full-scale commissioning to produce LME Grade A copper cathode, collaborating with safety and regulatory teams. The role requires 7+ years in hydrometallurgy or copper processing, with strong experience in SX/EW, process modeling, and metallurgical accounting.

Qualifikationen

• Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical/chemical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of relevant metallurgical experience in hydrometallurgy and copper concentrate processing.
• Proven experience leading metallurgical testwork, engineering studies, pilot-plant operations, and facility commissioning/startup.
• Deep knowledge of hydrometallurgical processing, concentrate leaching, SX, EW, and solution purification.
• Strong pilot plant design, scale-up, process modeling, and metallurgical accounting skills.
• Familiarity with MSHA/OSHA and environmental regulations applicable to metallurgical facilities.
• Master’s degree and professional engineering license are preferred.

Aufgaben

• Lead engineering studies, process development, and testing for copper concentrate leaching.
• Design, manage, and execute pilot plant testing programs and evaluate technologies and economics.
• Oversee full-scale engineering, construction, commissioning, and ramp-up of the leaching facility to produce LME Grade A copper cathode.
• Optimize unit operations including receiving, leaching, solid-liquid separation, SX, and EW.
• Establish process control parameters, mass/energy balances, PFDs, and specifications with engineers/ Vendors.
• Develop SOPs, QC protocols, and metallurgical accounting frameworks.
• Monitor KPIs, recoveries, reagent use, and operational efficiencies.
• Coordinate with safety, environmental, and regulatory teams for compliance.
• Support readiness, contractor management, and risk assessments during development and construction.
