Job summary

Vitalant is seeking a Divisional Chief Medical Officer to advance our mission of saving and improving lives through blood donation, research, and innovation. You will provide medical leadership to patients, donors, staff, and professionals across assigned areas and collaborate with Medical Affairs to improve quality and patient care.

The role requires MD/DO, board certification in a clinical specialty, and fellowship or equivalent transfusion medicine experience.

Qualifications

• MD or DO or equivalent degree required.
• Medical license in the state(s) of work within 6 months required.
• Board certification in Clinical Pathology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or other clinical specialty required.
• Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine certification preferred.
• Fellowship training or equivalent experience in blood banking/transfusion medicine required.
• Seven years' experience in transfusion medicine preferred.
• Supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provides medical leadership to achieve high standards of quality, safety, and ethics.
• Hires, supervises, trains, develops, and evaluates personnel.
• Oversees physicians and medical strategy across units.
• Develops and administers the department budget.
• Implements medical policy and provides leadership in designated areas.
• Leads education programs and professional development for staff.
