Job summary

The Senior Director of the Immigrant Justice Legal Clinic (IJLC) at TRP Immigrant Justice provides leadership, mentorship, and oversight for the delivery of legal services in our Chicago office. Reporting to the Vice President of Programs, the role guides a team of 35–40 staff to ensure high-quality services aligned with TRP’s mission.

You will drive program development, staff training, budgeting, and external partnerships, while maintaining rigorous professional standards and ethical practices.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree and current license to practice law; 10+ years in immigration legal services or related management.
• Current knowledge of immigration law and practice; removal defense experience preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills; MS Office proficiency required.
• Highly motivated; capable of leading a team and working independently.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight for the Immigrant Justice Legal Clinic (IJLC).
• Lead program development and strategic planning for the clinic.
• Oversee staff training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
• Support attorneys, volunteers, and interns; foster teamwork and quality service.
• Manage budgets and resources in collaboration with finance teams.
• Develop external relationships with partners, officials, and funders; pursue funding opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with ethical standards and document management policies.
• Provide guidance on policy and procedure development as needed.
