Job summary

Camp Tawonga seeks a visionary Chief Executive Officer to guide the nonprofit’s next chapter, balancing innovation with tradition and preserving Tawonga’s culture of belonging. The CEO will lead strategic planning, fundraising, and senior leadership, while partnering with the Board to ensure long-term sustainability and program excellence across summer and year-round offerings.

Qualifications

• Strong alignment with Tawonga’s mission, culture, and values.
• Demonstrated commitment to Jewish community, Jewish identity, and Jewish values.
• Commitment to fostering a broad and welcoming community while recognizing complexity and difference.
• Exceptional relationship-builder with high emotional intelligence; political savvyness.
• Strategic thinker capable of balancing long-term vision with operational realities.
• Calm, thoughtful crisis manager who demonstrates sound judgment under pressure.
• Appreciation for and understanding of outdoor and environmental education.
• Familiarity with the Bay Area Jewish community or ability to quickly build credibility within it.
• Experience with change management and consensus building.
• Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Translate strategic priorities into measurable outcomes across the organization.
• Serve as Camp Tawonga’s chief ambassador, strengthening external relationships.
• Ensure financial sustainability through prudent budgeting, fundraising, and revenue diversification.
• Oversee governance and recruit/engage Board members.
• Provide leadership during summer and year-round programs to maintain program quality.
• Advance campus planning and infrastructure priorities in line with strategic plans.
