Job summary

The Upper Big Blue NRD in York, Nebraska is accepting applications for General Manager, serving as the District’s chief executive and supervising officer responsible for day-to-day administration under an elected board.

The successful candidate will lead a multi-department public organization with responsibilities including groundwater management, conservation, capital projects, and public education, requiring strong communication and budgetary experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, agriculture, natural resources, engineering, water resources, environmental science, public policy, or a closely related field; or equivalent experience.
• Ten years of progressively responsible experience in natural resources, water resources, public administration, executive management, engineering, or related field.
• At least six years of supervisory or executive leadership experience including staff and budgets, policy implementation, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-department public organization with sound judgment and accountability.
• Interpret and apply statutes, regulations, policies, contracts, budgets, and board directives.
• Prepare, administer, and evaluate budgets and financial information; make fiscal recommendations.
