Job summary

The Department of Community and Human Services seeks a seasoned Division Director to lead the Behavioral Health and Recovery Division in King County, with a ~200-person team over multiple programs.

This executive role oversees a $465 million annual budget, partners with elected officials and community stakeholders, and advances equity, racial and social justice across behavioral health services in a hybrid work arrangement based in Seattle, WA.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience directing large public sector health operations and programs.
• Executive-level leadership in behavioral health crisis systems or integrated care networks.
• Proven ability to manage substantial budgets, forecasting, and funder engagement.
• Advanced knowledge of Medicaid and public funding mechanisms.
• Strong data analytics and outcome measurement to drive decisions.
• Experience working with diverse communities to address inequities in health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision, direction, and strategic planning for BHRD programs.
• Oversee contracted behavioral health providers and program delivery.
• Embed Equity, Racial and Social Justice into policies and operations.
• Use performance data to plan, administer, and fund services.
• Lead cross-department collaboration to improve outcomes.
• Represent the division with executive leadership, officials, and partners.
