Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial goals.
  • Monitor expenditures, labor usage, and supply inventories to maximize efficiency and cost control.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels and control cost-per-room metrics for housekeeping and laundry operations.

Guest Experience

  • Perform room and public area inspections to ensure standards of cleanliness, condition, and presentation are met.
  • Provide guidance and retraining for staff when deficiencies are identified.
  • Attend to special guest requests, including VIPs and long-term or repeat guests, ensuring a tailored and memorable experience.
  • Promptly respond to and resolve guest complaints, ensuring complete satisfaction.
  • Greeting and acknowledge all guests with warmth and professionalism

Responsible Business Practices

  • Order housekeeping and laundry supplies and equipment efficiently to reduce waste and support eco-friendly practices.
  • Maintain safe handling, storage, and security of lost and found items.
  • Promote a safe and hazard-free work environment for all team members.
  • Know and follow all fire and emergency response procedures, including the use of the fire panel and evacuation processes.
  • Practice safe working habits (e.g., proper lifting techniques, minimizing tripping hazards, correct use of cleaning chemicals).
  • Maintain a professional appearance in line with Maya Hotels Grooming Policy – a smile is part of the uniform.
  • Adhere to all Maya Hotels policies, procedures, and Code of Ethics.

Education, Skills And Abilities

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Hospitality or business-related certifications preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience of housekeeping leadership, preferably in a hotel or resort environment.
  • Leadership: Strong supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to interact professionally with guests and team members.
  • Attention to Details: Strong organizational skills to maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Flexibility: Willingly to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Team Player: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with hotel staff.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs.
  • Must be able to navigate guest rooms and back-of-house areas safely and efficiently.
  • Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor areas as needed.
