Job summary

AlphaStaffHCM is seeking an experienced General Counsel to lead the Legal Department across the organization. You will provide executive-level legal advice on employment law, contracts, data privacy, governance, compliance, and AI governance, reporting to the CEO and partnering with the Board.

The role emphasizes strong executive presence, collaboration, and a hybrid work setup; prior PE0/HCM experience is preferred. Travel may be required for business needs.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent.
• Law degree from ABA-accredited school and active Florida Bar membership or Florida In-House Authorized status.
• 10–15 years of relevant legal experience with emphasis on employment law; mix of law firm and in-house preferred.
• Experience with a Professional Employer Organization or Human Capital Management company including ERISA is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.
• Ability to translate legal concepts into practical business guidance for executives.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level strategic legal guidance to the Board and ELT to align legal strategy with business goals.
• Lead and manage the Legal Department including attorneys and staff, supporting client service delivery, contracts, benefits compliance, and related functions.
• Review complex client service, vendor and broker contracts; develop new contract forms; manage vendor management and risk assessments.
• Design and deliver employment law, workplace compliance, wage/hour, and AI governance trainings.
• Monitor and advise on employment law changes, tax compliance, and employee benefits compliance.
• Oversee audits, litigation management, and confidentiality/ privacy matters; manage IP portfolio and governance docs.
