Job summary

Lewis County Fire Districts 5 & 6 in Lewis County, WA, seeks a Fire Chief to provide executive leadership across both districts. The Chief will oversee fire and EMS operations, personnel management, budgeting, capital planning, and training, reporting to the Boards of Commissioners.

The ideal candidate will bring a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 10 years of progressive fire service experience, with senior command experience highly desired. Equal Opportunity Employers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fire science, fire administration, public administration, business administration, or closely related field.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible fire service experience with command, supervisory, and administrative responsibilities.
• Experience at Captain, Chief Officer, or equivalent command level is highly desirable.
• Experience with combination fire department, EMS, collective bargaining, budgeting, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership to Lewis County Fire Districts 5 and 6 and manage services across both districts.
• Oversee fire and emergency medical operations, personnel management, labor relations, training, budgeting, and capital planning.
• Collaborate with Boards of Commissioners and ensure policies, procedures, and administrative functions are effectively implemented.
