Job summary

Qualifications

• Ten years of progressively responsible fire service experience.
• Five years as a Division Chief or higher with command, budgeting, and admin responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration, Fire Science, Emergency Management, Public/Business Administration, Management, or related field.
• Master’s degree or professional credentials (NFPA EFO/CFO) preferred.
• Proof of education, training, and/or experience required.

Responsibilities

• Directs departmental functions through command staff and sets performance expectations.
• Develops and implements the Department’s strategic plan and service priorities.
• Ensures operational readiness for all-hazard emergency services and prioritizes staffing and resources.
• Oversees fire suppression, EMS, rescue, hazmat, and special operations; assumes incident command as needed.
• Directs fire prevention, code enforcement, investigation, public education, and risk reduction programs.
• Oversees emergency communications and dispatch; coordinates with partner agencies.
• Develops and administers operating and capital budgets and forecasts resources.
• Oversees long-range planning for stations, equipment, technology, and facilities.
• Ensures compliance with personnel policies and labor agreements; supervises recruitment and evaluations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
