Job summary

ECU Health seeks a Vice President of Financial Operations for the Medical Group to provide strategic and operational financial leadership across ambulatory and hospital-based practices. You will guide planning, budgeting, and performance improvement to support growth, education, and research alignment with Brody School of Medicine.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
• 10+ years progressive healthcare finance leadership, including multi-specialty medical groups and academic health systems.
• Experience with physician compensation governance, professional revenue cycle, and practice economics.
• Expertise with EHR/PM systems (Epic Resolute), cost accounting/decision support, and advanced Excel/BI tools.
• Strong understanding of value-based/risk models, managed care, and regulatory frameworks (Stark, AKS, CMS, OIG).

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-year financial planning, annual budgeting, and rolling forecasts for the Medical Group.
• Develop P&L visibility across enterprise, department, service line, and provider levels; own margin improvement.
• Oversee capital allocation for clinics and enabling technologies; manage ROI and reviews.
• Lead compensation governance and revenue cycle initiatives to optimize performance.
• Partner with AMC/SOM leaders to align finance with education, research, and clinical missions.
• Model funds flow and business cases; coordinate with Board-level leadership on strategic opportunities.
