Job summary

Ares Management is seeking a Vice President and Engineering Lead for Investment Operations within the Technology & Information Security organization. You will lead the design, development and deployment of solutions for the Investment Operations function for the firm.

The role requires hands-on leadership, guiding teams, setting tech strategy, collaborating with Investments, Operations, Quants, and Compliance, and driving innovations in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering required.
• 10+ years in software development with 4+ years leading a team (5–10 people).
• 5+ years Private Markets experience in Asset Management lifecycle.
• Strong Java, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL skills.
• Experience building full-stack modern scalable apps (Angular/React, Node, Spring Boot, Java, Python, JPA, Hibernate, Redis).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL technologies (Postgres, SQL-Server, Mongo, Elastic, Redis).
• Knowledge of modern UI/UX practices; CI/CD; Kafka; GenAI coding assistants; Kubernetes/Docker/Terraform; cloud concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set technical vision and roadmap for Ares Investment Operations across the investment lifecycle.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers.
• Oversee end-to-end development of engineering solutions for the business.
• Lead by example and participate in architecture, design, development and delivery.
• Collaborate with senior engineering and business leaders to define product roadmap and strategy.
• Implement industry best practices for engineering and product management.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiations and consulting resources.
• Drive technological innovations and cross-functional initiatives with senior partners.
• Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, inclusivity and accountability.
