Job summary

Effingham County EMS seeks an experienced EMS Director to provide executive leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight. The role reports to County leadership and collaborates with clinical, regulatory, and community partners to ensure high-quality patient care and readiness.

The position requires extensive EMS management experience, licensing compliance, budgeting, and the ability to operate within county policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EMS, healthcare administration, public administration, business administration, or related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible EMS experience, including supervisory/management responsibilities.
• Equivalency allowed, but does not waive required licenses or credentials.
• Strong knowledge of data, budgeting, and public-safety operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight for the EMS department.
• Direct budgeting, performance metrics, staffing, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with Medical Director on clinical protocols and patient-care standards.
• Ensure licensing, credentialing, continuing education, and documentation are current.
• Oversee staffing, recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and disciplinary processes.
• Maintain readiness of ambulances, equipment, and fleet; ensure response capabilities.
