Job summary

KERA is seeking an Executive Editor to oversee KERA News, the Denton Record-Chronicle, and our daily talk shows. The role includes supervising newsroom leaders, shaping editorial strategy, and guiding collaborations with regional partners.

The ideal candidate has deep journalism leadership experience, expertise in local news and digital operations, and a commitment to audience-centered reporting across platforms. This exempt, supervisory role reports to the President & CEO.

• Ability to lead across multiple platforms and teams.

Responsibilities

• Set overall editorial strategy and direction for KERA’s newsroom, the Denton Record-Chronicle and daily talk shows.
• Recruit, develop and retain a strong team of journalists; coach editors on journalism and people management.
• Manage relationships with editorial partners at local, state and national levels.
• Understand audience data across platforms and use it to shape coverage and products.
