Job summary

Virginia Veterans Services Foundation seeks an Executive Director to lead the Foundation and advance its mission to support veterans and their families. The role directs daily operations, oversees fundraising, and shapes long-term strategies in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and other state agencies.

The position may offer remote or hybrid work arrangements, and requires strong governance, financial stewardship, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communication

Qualifications

• Non-profit board relations, program management, staff supervision, program development, and budget management.
• Fundraising with gifts from individuals and corporations.
• Budget management: preparation, analysis, reporting, and decision-making.
• Program development and management experience.
• Ability to build relationships with government officials, business leaders, and communities.
• Excellent organizational skills: planning, delegating, and facilitation.
• Excellent written and public speaking skills; ability to represent the Foundation to diverse audiences.
• Ability to convey the Foundation's strategic plan to the Board and officials.
• Proficiency in technology and digital platforms for marketing, communications, and operations.
• Prior military service or veteran-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day operations of the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation.
• Create and oversee fundraising and development activities.
• Develop long-range strategies to increase awareness of the Foundation's mission and vision.
• Manage the organization’s annual budget and financial planning.
• Collaborate with leadership of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services.
• Serve as partner with other state agencies to advance the Foundation's mission.
• A remote or hybrid work environment may be considered.
