Job summary

The Poughkeepsie Housing Authority seeks an innovative Executive Director to serve as CEO during a period of redevelopment and renewal. Reporting to a seven-member Board, the leader will guide operations, ensure HUD compliance, and secure financial stewardship to position the Authority for long-term sustainability.

The role requires a seasoned executive with housing expertise, strong communication, and the ability to build partnerships with residents, government entities, funders and developers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required. An advanced degree in public administration, business, urban planning, public policy, housing management, finance or related field is preferred.
• At least seven years of progressively responsible executive or senior management experience, including two years supervising staff, in public or affordable housing or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of HUD regulations, public housing operations, Housing Choice Voucher administration, asset management, procurement, contracts and public budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for all functions of the Authority including housing, vouchers, maintenance, redevelopment, finance and HR.
• Ensure HUD compliance, governance reporting and alignment with Board policies.
• Lead redevelopment and preservation strategies including LEHHT, LIHTC, modernization and capital improvements.
• Pursue grants and partnerships to support operations, redevelopment and long-term sustainability.
• Strengthen resident communication, staff development and succession planning.
• Represent the Authority before HUD, elected officials, developers and community partners.
