Job summary

The Theater Mu in Saint Paul, MN seeks a Managing Director to lead administrative operations and ensure financial sustainability. Working with the artistic director and board, you will oversee fundraising, grants, and marketing, while shaping the organization’s strategic direction.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in business/finance or related field, at least five years in nonprofit leadership, and strong donor relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or operational management, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in nonprofit/performing arts with budgeting.
• Demonstrated success in donor cultivation and growing key donor relationships.
• Experience with nonprofit governance and compliance under Minnesota law.
• Strong knowledge of financial software including Bill.com, Gusto, PatronManager/Salesforce, QuickBooks, or similar; Google Workspace proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee administrative operations and financial sustainability, in partnership with the artistic director and board.
• Oversee fundraising/grants and marketing activities.
• Provide organizational leadership and supervise staff as determined with the artistic director.
• Collaborate with the board on governance, planning, and community engagement.
• Represent Theater Mu publicly and support arts education and community programs.
