Job summary

Philo Ridge Farm (PRF) is seeking an outstanding Executive Director to lead day-to-day operations year-round from Charlotte, VT. The role oversees land, market spaces, food service, processing facilities, and administrative functions while embodying PRF’s mission and values.

The ED will partner with the Board to drive strategic direction, manage finances, staff development, and community engagement, while remaining hands-on when needed in this vibrant farm setting.

Qualifications

• Executive leadership experience in nonprofit organizations of similar scale, scope and budget.
• Experience in a place-based organization that welcomes the public.
• Experience in agricultural and/or hospitality settings is a plus.
• Ability to recognize and capitalize on strategic business opportunities.
• Strong business, financial, and entrepreneurial abilities in leadership roles.
• Proven ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders.
• Public-facing leadership capabilities locally, regionally, and nationally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, project management and presentation skills.
• Ability to read and interpret financial statements and act on them.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher academic attainment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual strategic goals and a five-year plan in collaboration with the Board.
• Align structures, staffing, and budgets with strategic goals.
• Develop and refine organizational metrics and report to the Board.
• Oversee day-to-day operations across departments and ensure cross-functional coordination.
• Lead staff recruitment, training, and development; foster a collaborative culture.
• Maintain HR policies, permits, licenses, and insurance requirements.
• Manage farm finances, budgeting, and reporting; coordinate planning for business units.
• Engage with the community and represent PRF in public forums and networks.
• Partner with the Board to guide governance and strategic relationships.
