Job summary

New York Folklore is seeking an experienced administrator to serve as Executive Director in Schenectady. The ED will manage day-to-day operations, report to the Board of Trustees, and advance the organization's mission through strategic leadership and financial stewardship.

The successful candidate will bring strong collaborative leadership, organizational, and managerial skills, with expertise in grant writing and fundraising to identify and sustain new programs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in folklore preferred.
• Experience with grant writing and fundraising essential.
• Five years of managerial capacity in a cultural organization required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-range strategy aligned with the mission.
• Lead staff of 5 and oversee hiring and performance reviews.
• Prepare and monitor the annual budget; lead fundraising efforts and grants.
• Oversee external communications and public engagement; act as spokesperson.
• Advocate with NYSCA, NYFA, NEA, and other arts organizations.
