Job summary

The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland seeks an Executive Director to lead staff, operations, facilities, budget, and fundraising.

This role collaborates with the School of Music, TDPS, MSPAL, and Arts for All to shape strategic programming that advances curricular goals and community engagement.

Required: Bachelor’s degree and 12 years’ experience, including 6 years supervising staff; excellent communication and knowledge of industry regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or University.
• Twelve (12) years of professional experience, including at least six (6) years supervising or managing professional staff.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Oversee The Clarice’s staff, operations, facilities, budget, and fundraising.
• Balance educational, public, and financial priorities to enhance The Clarice’s stature as a national leader among performing arts presenters and contribute to the resident academic units’ missions.
• Collaborate with Directors of the resident academic units to develop and refine a strategic and innovative vision.
• Develop programming in collaboration with School of Music; School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies; MSPAL; and Arts for All to align with curricular needs.
