Job summary

The Town of Addison is seeking a Director of Parks and Recreation to lead the Parks and Recreation Department. The role reports to the Deputy City Manager and oversees parks, facilities, athletic clubs, programs, and events, aligning services with the Town’s vision.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and significant supervisory and program management experience. A master’s degree is preferred, with a strong focus on community impact, budgeting, and public engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Parks and Recreation Management, Public or Business Administration, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic leadership for planning, maintenance, and long-term stewardship of the Town's parks, trails, and public spaces.
• Oversees development and management of budgets, personnel, and operations for Parks and Recreation.
• Represents Parks and Recreation in City Council and community meetings; coordinates programs and events.
• Collaborates with stakeholders on capital projects and community initiatives.
• Ensures programs comply with laws, safety standards, and quality expectations.
• Leads staffing decisions, performance management, and staff development.
• Oversees special events and recreation programming to enhance quality of life for residents and visitors.
