Job summary

Hudson River Park Friends is seeking an inspiring Executive Director to lead the organization’s mission, growth, and impact in New York City. You will collaborate with the Board, navigate a complex public-private environment, and steward the park’s philanthropic ecosystem with integrity and vision.

You will oversee fundraising, operations, and external affairs, personally cultivating major gifts while guiding a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience in a nonprofit or related field.
• Track record of securing philanthropic support and leading fundraising programs.
• Experience partnering with a Board of Directors and senior staff.
• Strong financial management and organizational leadership experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership advancing Friends' mission and long-term sustainability.
• Partner with the Board and President to set goals and communicate priorities.
• Oversee fundraising strategy including major gifts, corporate partnerships, and events.
• Lead and develop a high-performing development team with accountability.
• Cultivate relationships with major donors and philanthropic networks.
• Represent Friends publicly and build donor engagement across NYC communities.
• Oversee operations, finance, HR, IT with executive leadership.
• Collaborate with Trust and civic partners on fundraising and park initiatives.
• Ensure governance, risk management, and board communications.
