Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in multiple U.S. locations is seeking an Executive Director to lead the PDMB Outsourcing team within Translational Sciences and Outsourcing (TSO). This role drives a digitally connected outsourcing model to accelerate portfolio delivery and strengthen external collaborations.

You will oversee a ~35-person team across DMPK, Reg BA, and vaccine/therapeutics programs, guiding budgeting, forecasting, and vendor strategy in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Broad experience in bioanalytical development/validation and QC with knowledge of regulatory requirements for regulated clinical and GLP testing of small molecules and biologics.
• Business and financial acumen including forecasting, tracking and vendor management.
• Proven track record building talent, fostering collaboration and driving results in a high-performance environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of ~35 professionals including Senior Directors and PhD/BS/MS scientists, with people and scientific leadership responsibilities.
• Provide strategic scientific and operational leadership for PDMB Outsourcing, including vendor strategy and budget guidance; ensure redundancy in external network against risk.
• Deliver on discovery and development portfolio support across DMPK, Reg BA, and vaccine/therapeutics programs with timely data delivery for filings.
• Oversee >50 external vendors globally, ensuring quality, timeliness, compliance and execution of vendor management processes.
