Job summary

Merck & Co., Rahway, NJ, seeks an Executive Director to lead the Outsourcing team within Translational Sciences and Outsourcing. The role centers on sourcing, financial tracking, vendor strategy, and data delivery to support discovery and development decisions across DMPK, Reg BA, and vaccine/therapeutic programs.

The ideal candidate will connect wet-lab and dry-lab capabilities, advance a digitally-connected outsourcing model, and align departmental priorities with PDMB and TSO goals while

Qualifications

• Broad experience in bioanalytical development/validation and QC with regulatory requirements for GLP testing in small molecules and biologics.
• Business and financial acumen including forecasting, financial tracking and strategic vendor management.
• Proven track record in building inclusive, high-performance teams that drive innovation and scientific excellence.
• Excellent technical, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of ~35 professionals including Senior Directors and scientists with people management and operations oversight.
• Provide strategic scientific and operational leadership for PDMB Outsourcing, including vendor strategy and budget guidance.
• Deliver discovery and development portfolio support across modalities and ensure timely data delivery for regulatory filings.
• Oversee external research with 50+ vendors globally to ensure quality, compliance and supply.
