Executive Director of Clinical Analytics, Research and Outcomes

The Director of Clinical Analytics, Research, and Outcomes will lead a multidisciplinary team that includes clinical research coordinators and quality and outcomes specialists. The Executive Director will oversee these efforts at Dell Children’s Medical Center and collaborate across a comprehensive healthcare platform that includes a broad range of services. The Executive Director will partner with clinical faculty to accomplish academic and care quality initiatives. These initiatives will expand research initiatives through collaborative engagements across hospital sections as well as other aligned stakeholders within the University of Texas at Austin and Ascension Texas hospitals.

The primary goal of this position is to build sustainable, rigorous outcomes and research programs that advance the science and delivery of care for patients with congenital heart disease and their families. This will include establishing high‑quality clinical research, a robust data infrastructure, and a continuous quality measurement platform. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining data systems to measure key outcomes, leading prospective and retrospective studies, pursuing extramural funding, and partnering with clinical and quality teams to translate findings into practice.

This position is afaculty‑levelrole at the Assistant Professor level or above, with active participation in the education and training of undergraduate, graduate, and medical students; residents; postdoctoral fellows; and other trainees, as well as participation in the academic activities of the Departments of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and Pediatrics.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and drive the strategic direction for a comprehensive outcomes and research program, including clinical research and data infrastructure for congenital heart disease care.
• Recruit and mentor research colleagues in successful grant writing and acquisition and build a high-performing team.
• Oversee the design and conduct of clinical research studies (prospective and retrospective)andclinical registries and databases, ensuring feasibility and alignment with program priorities.
• Lead the development and implementation of data collection, data management, and analytics processes, including integration of clinical, administrative, andpatient‑reporteddata sources.
• Partner with quality and clinical operations teams to design, implement, and evaluate quality improvement initiatives that are informed by data and research findings.
• Disseminate research andoutcomesfindings to internal and external audiences through reports, presentations, manuscripts, dashboards, visualizations, and other communication tools.
• Train faculty, staff, and trainees in research methods, data interpretation, and best practices in outcomes and quality research.
• Fosterand createcollaborations with Dell Medical School departments, UT Austin partners, and Ascension Texastoadvisecomplex and strategic research and quality initiatives.
• Oversee, prioritize, and activate research initiatives that lead to high-impact peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and extramural grant funding.Work with the Sponsored ProgramsOffice on behalf of the researchers.
• Ensure the quality of research work and data, drive research excellence, andmaintainresearch team compliance with relevant regulations and best practices, including humansubjectsprotections, data governance, and institutional policies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or foreign equivalent).
• Demonstrated leadership or management experience.
• Experience building and leading clinical research teams and operations, including oversight of data and/or quality improvement functions.
• Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and their application.
• Strong knowledge of biostatistics and research study design,data architecture, AI, and statistical programs (e.g., R, Python, STATA, SAS,etc.)
• Strong knowledge of grant writing principles and best practices
• Qualifications for faculty appointment at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School at the level of Assistant Professor or above.

Preferred Qualifications

• MPH (Epidemiology, Biostatistics focus) or equivalent experience in epidemiological or outcomes research.
• MBA, MHA, or equivalent experience in health care administration or management.
• 5+ years of formal leadership or management experience.
• Clinical background and experience
• Experiencerepresentingoutcomes and clinical research with executive leadership and external partners.
• Experience working on multiplefast‑pacedresearch projects across the project lifecycle, from study design through dissemination.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex data and research findings for diverse audiences.
