Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin in Austin, TX, seeks an Executive Director of Development for Major and Principal Gifts to lead a comprehensive philanthropy program supporting UT Dell Medicine. The role directly manages a 60–80‑member principal/major gifts portfolio and targets $10M–$15M in annual funding from donors and grateful patients.

Reporting to the Senior AVP/CDO, you will collaborate with executives, communications, and finance, drive KPIs, recruit and mentor staff, and shape donor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, communications, public administration, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum 10 years of fundraising experience (including principal gifts) with 3 years in leadership managing teams or programs; healthcare or large nonprofit experience preferred.
• Master’s degree ( MBA, MPA, MPH, or related ).
• 5+ years leading comprehensive programs in a multi-entity health system or academic medical environment.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage CRM, analytics, and digital tools to inform fundraising strategy.
• Experience developing or expanding grateful patient fundraising programs.

Responsibilities

• Leads Principal and Major Gift fundraising strategy and annual goal achievement.
• Benchmarks performance and adjusts portfolio mix to meet growth targets.
• Oversees team leadership and performance.
• Directs prospect research, analytics, and operations.
• Engages in proposal development, strategy, and stewardship for donors in the campus healthcare portfolio.

Education
