Job summary

FirstEnergy seeks an executive leader in learning and development to shape enterprise leadership programs and employee development strategies. You will lead design, delivery, and governance of curricula that build leadership capability and support talent growth across the organization.

Responsibilities include guiding senior stakeholders, managing a team of L&D professionals, and aligning programs with business priorities using modern learning methods and measurement of impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Leadership Development, Education, Business, Psychology, or related field.
• 10+ years in learning and development, with 5+ years leading teams.
• Experience designing leadership development within a complex organization.
• Working knowledge of instructional design methodologies including ADDIE and adult learning principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for enterprise leadership and employee development programs across FirstEnergy.
• Lead design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of leadership curricula and learning experiences.
• Oversee programs for aspiring leaders, supervisors, managers, directors, and executive leaders, plus employee development initiatives.
• Manage and develop a team of learning and development professionals.
• Establish enterprise standards and governance for leadership and employee development programs, learning design, and program evaluation.
• Partner with business leaders, HR, and stakeholders to assess capability needs and align development strategies with business priorities.
• Drive modern learning methodologies, adult learning principles, and technology-enabled learning solutions.
• Develop and monitor program goals, budgets, and effectiveness measures.
• Support IDPs, career-pathing initiatives, leadership tools, and enterprise learning experiences.
• Develop and maintain enterprise leadership resources, including workshops and offsites.
