Job summary

Advocates for Immigrant Rights & Reconciliation (AIRR) seeks an Executive Director to lead organizational strategy, fundraising, and community organizing in the Kansas City region. The role reports to the Board of Directors and requires hands‑on leadership across staff, programming, and external partnerships.

The ED will build resources, strengthen governance, and advance AIRR’s mission while maintaining its grassroots, power‑building identity.

Qualifications

• At least five years of leadership experience in nonprofit or advocacy settings.
• Experience with fundraising, donor development, and diversified revenue.
• Nonprofit governance and board engagement experience.
• Budgeting, financial management, and strategic planning skills.
• Supervising staff, contractors, and volunteers in a mission-driven environment.
• Experience collaborating with immigrant communities and power-building work.
• Professional proficiency in Spanish and English, including written and verbal.
• Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, and conflict navigation.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and partner with the Board to set priorities, budgets, and accountability.
• Develop a diversified fundraising plan, engage donors, and supervise resource development.
• Lead organizing and community-power-building initiatives with staff and leaders.
• Foster staff and volunteer leadership through coaching, training, and development.
• Oversee financial, legal, and operational systems ensuring compliance and health.
• Represent AIRR with funders, partners, public officials, and media, upholding organizational values.
• Ensure accountable governance and maintain culturally responsive external relationships.
