Job summary

Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission seeks an Executive Director I to provide executive direction, management, and control over agency functions under state law. The role leads strategic planning, oversees operations, budgeting, and regulatory activities, and ensures compliance with racing and gaming statutes.

The incumbent will supervise senior staff, coordinate with the Secretary of Agriculture, and implement policies to promote integrity and efficiency within the racing industry of Oklahoma.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
• Experience in public administration and regulatory environments.

Responsibilities

• Recommends and administers organizational structure and staffing to implement the Horse Racing Act.
• Oversees law enforcement and ensures compliance with statutes and Commission rules.
• Serves as liaison with horse industry and related associations; informs Commission of new developments.
• Develops and maintains procedures for enforcing laws and directives pertaining to racing and gaming acts.
• Prepares annual budget and reports for the Governor, Legislature, and State Finance.
