Job summary

The Folk School seeks an inspiring, forward-thinking Executive Director to lead during a period of growth and transformation, building on recently implemented systems and expanding impact. As chief administrative officer, the ED will oversee strategic direction, operations, finances, and community relations, reporting to the Board and guiding staff, instructors, volunteers, and participants.

Qualifications

• Preference for 5 years in a directorial role or similar capacity.
• Experience building relationships with donors, partners, and boards.
• Strong financial, operational, and organizational leadership skills.
• A post-secondary degree in a related field is preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience in the nonprofit sector preferred, especially in arts and culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership to staff, instructors, and volunteers.
• Develop and monitor operating budget and ensure financial sustainability.
• Grow fundraising efforts including major donors and grants.
• Collaborate with Board of Directors on governance and strategy.
• Oversee program development and community outreach.
