Job summary

High Plains Environmental Center in Loveland, Colorado seeks an Executive Director to lead strategic direction, financial management, fundraising, and staff development for HPEC and HPF. The role partners with Boards to ensure long-term sustainability and community engagement.

The ED will oversee budgeting (~$1.5M), land stewardship, open-space management, and partnerships, advancing environmental education and recreation in Centerra and Northern Colorado.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Five+ years of managerial and leadership experience.
  • Experience with conservation lands, parks, open spaces, or similar areas.
  • Nonprofit leadership, budgeting, fundraising, and supervision experience.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance, risk management, HR practices, and policies.
  • Commitment to environmental conservation; familiarity with Northern Colorado desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic direction with boards and ensure alignment with mission.
  • Oversee annual budget of $1.5 million and financial reporting.
  • Lead fundraising through foundation grants, partnerships, and gifts.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit, employment, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee HR policies and supervise staff of 10 and contractors.
