Job summary

The City of Brenham seeks a Director of Economic Development and Tourism to lead economic growth and responsible tourism for Brenham and Washington County. This public-facing role reports to the City Manager, guiding programs, incentives, and partnerships to attract and retain business while supporting cultural arts and community events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, urban planning, business management or related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in economic development, community development, city management or marketing.
• Two (2) years of administrative and/or supervisory experience; equivalent combinations accepted.

Responsibilities

• Develop economic development and tourism strategies, policies and plans.
• Manage budgets, grants and incentives and report to City Manager/Council.
• Lead collaborations with Chamber of Commerce, BC/DC, EDF and partners.
• Market and attract business development opportunities; negotiate incentives.
• Oversee HOT registration, remittance and compliance; reporting responsibilities.
• Represent the City in meetings and public presentations; monitor legislation.
