Job summary

The City of Brenham seeks a Director of Economic Development and Tourism to lead strategies that drive growth, responsible tourism, and cultural arts. The role reports to the City Manager’s Office and partners with City Council, county entities, and local foundations to attract and retain businesses while guiding budget planning and incentives.

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, urban planning, or business management.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in economic development, community development, city management or marketing.
• At least two (2) years of administrative and/or supervisory experience.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Create economic development and tourism strategies, policies, and practices under the direction of the City Manager while balancing goals.
• Manage projects and reporting per the Interlocal Agreement for Economic Development and Tourism Services.
• Market, promote, list, and negotiate sale/lease/development of property owned by BCDC; liaison with developers, businesses, investors.
• Respond to RFIs and prepare proposals for business attraction and expansion.
• Develop action plans for the Three-Year Economic Development Strategic Plan and related programs; update as needed.
