Job summary

NOLA Public Schools seeks an Executive Director of Diverse Learners Support to drive improvement across charter schools in New Orleans. You will collaborate with district and school leaders, state partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement policies and supports for diverse learners.

The role requires entrepreneurial, data-driven thinking, strong communication, and experience in leadership within charter schools or special education policy.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience.
  • Knowledge of state and national best practices in supporting diverse learners.
  • Experience in school leadership or administration is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly support and engage school leaders to increase organizational effectiveness and student achievement through professional development and oversight of shared services models.
  • Lead efforts to create Communities of Practice that support Special Education Leaders and other groups to improve outcomes for diverse learners.
  • Independently generate and propose solutions to address needs arising from diverse stakeholders.
  • Research and plan for implementation of policies and practices impacting Diverse Learner support and district goals.
  • Communicate with state and local experts and partners to inform policy and practice.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to identify emerging issues and deploy supports to schools.
  • Oversee Special Education Ombudsman and related compliance activities.
  • Support charter schools and ensure alignment with Charter School accountability framework.
  • Perform other duties as required.
