Job Description Summary

The ideal location for this role is East Hanover, NJ, but remote work may be considered in certain states. Remote employees are responsible for home office expenses and periodic travel to East Hanover, NJ, as required by the hiring manager.

This posting is associated with three Oncology Executive Director Product Lead positions:

  • Executive Director - Decision Science, Product Lead - Breast & Women's Cancer
  • Executive Director - Decision Science, Product Lead - RLT
  • Executive Director - Decision Science, Product Lead - Hematology

The Insights and Decision Science (IDS) team at Novartis aims to enhance decision-making through data and analytics, collaborating closely with the US business to generate actionable insights that support business growth. This role reports to the VP, Decision Science TA and Launch, and is key in enabling insight-driven decision-making for the brand, addressing business challenges, shaping strategy, and implementing decision science through IDS capabilities.

The Decision Science, Product Lead, is a strategic role responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights to drive brand success. This individual will synthesize information from various sources to provide comprehensive recommendations aligned with brand strategies. They will support insight generation throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring continuous strategic alignment and fostering innovation. Leading a high-performing IDS POD at the product level, this role influences the brand's strategic direction and ensures insights are leveraged to meet business objectives.

Major Accountabilities
  • Shape the brand's strategic direction by leveraging insights to identify opportunities and optimize performance.
  • Integrate insights from IDS functions to deliver comprehensive, actionable recommendations.
  • Participate in IPST discussions, providing data-driven insights and challenging existing strategies.
  • Help craft the brand narrative for IPST meetings and senior leadership discussions.
  • Serve as the primary contact and strategic partner for the IPST and General Management, ensuring alignment and communication.
  • Collaborate with the IPST Lead to refine analyses and insights.
  • Lead the IDS POD at the product level, coordinating across IDS pillars to drive brand performance.
  • Share insights with the IPST and challenge current thinking to promote innovation.
  • Support ongoing insight generation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Translate analytics into actionable strategies, diagnosing current results and exploring scenarios with predictive analytics.
Qualifications and Experience

We seek candidates with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, understanding product lifecycle management, market dynamics, and regulatory environments. Proven success in brand performance management and strategic planning is essential. The candidate should demonstrate leadership in managing high-performing teams and fostering collaboration.

  • 10+ years in pharma or healthcare, with deep knowledge of brand and product lifecycle management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Data Science, or related; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong background in therapeutic strategies, early-stage asset planning, and experience with both established and launch products.
  • 5+ years in data analytics, data science, market research, or related strategic analytics.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into strategic insights and inform decision-making.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and influence skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in hypothesis generation, behavioral science, and research methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills, adaptable to dynamic environments.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range at start is expected to be $214,900 - $399,100 annually, with potential adjustments based on market conditions and individual factors. The total package may include bonuses, stock units, benefits, and other perks. Final compensation will depend on experience, location, and performance.
