The Executive Director of the Center for Performing Arts (CPA) serves as the General Manager and artistic leader of the Center and is responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for all performing arts programming, educational initiatives, community engagement activities, and business operations. Reporting to the Chair, Division of Arts and Letters and serving as a key leadership member of the college and university, the Executive Director advances the mission of Governors State University by positioning the Center as a premier regional destination for arts, culture, education, and community engagement.

45% Oversee all daily operations of the Center of Performing Arts, providing fiscal input and direction of the budget, for the Center of Performing Arts. Identify, lead, and enhance revenue-generating efforts focused on sustainability and financial self-sufficiency through earned revenue and contributed revenue sources such as grants and program sponsorships in collaboration with the GovState Foundation, in the development of revenue and gift fund raising efforts. Provide effective leadership and management of CPA’s human and financial resources consistent with the strategic direction of GovState.
30% Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop revenue generating multi-year artistic and arts-in-education programming consistent with GovState’s mission and position as an arts and arts education venue in the south suburbs of Chicago. Negotiate, create, and review artists’ contracts and appearance arrangements in collaboration with campus stakeholders including the Office of the General Counsel, Procurement and Business Services, University Events, Department of Public Safety, and Facilities. Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team in developing promotional materials and related items to publicize the CPA programming.
15% As part of the College of Arts and Sciences, lead collaborative efforts to engage with the campus community, faculty, staff, and students, in the CPA. Work across the university to use the CPA spaces for internal events to maximize the Center.
5% Collaborates with the CPA Advisory Board to identify emerging opportunities, community needs, and programmatic initiatives that enhance the Center's impact. Represent the CPA on various state and national boards and committees supporting community arts, and community arts organizations as recommended.
5% All other duties as assigned.
