Job summary

WIRED seeks a reporter to cover tech companies and their influence, with a focus on major platforms, for the WIRED business desk. You will deliver high-impact stories from breaking news to long-form investigations, leveraging a deep source base and public records tools.

You will report to the Director, Business & Industry. This hybrid role (3 days in-office) allows work from New York, San Francisco, or Los Angeles and partners with global teams to expand coverage.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years experience as technology or business journalist with investigative reporting on tech companies.
• Proven track record of scoops and breaking news on a beat.
• Strong organizational skills to manage evolving workload and priorities.
• Clear, engaging, jargon-free writing style.

Responsibilities

• Consistently break news and deliver scoops.
• Report and write at least eight stories per month, mixing short pieces with longer investigations.
• Pitch, report, and write stories on tech companies and their influence.
• Collaborate with business desk and WIRED newsroom journalists.
• Collaborate with audio, video, events, and social teams to tell stories on other platforms.
• Work with global markets on relevant stories or packages.
• Take on additional projects as assigned.
