Job summary

Vertex is seeking an Executive Director, Biotherapeutics DMPK-Bioanalysis to guide the DMPK-BA strategy for our Biotherapeutics portfolio, including protein, antibody, ADC, and cell/gene therapies. The role is based in Boston and will oversee teams in Boston and Seattle, reporting to Global DMPK leadership and integrating PK, bioanalysis, ADME, and translational PKPD into program decisions.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent with 15+ years in DMPK-BA leadership.
• Extensive experience managing DMPK-BA teams across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Deep expertise in PK, ADME, bioanalysis, immunogenicity, and translational PKPD modeling.
• Proven ability to influence cross-site teams and governance bodies.
• Experience with regulatory submissions and interactions with health authorities.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop vision, strategy, and capabilities for DMPK-BA teams across Boston and Seattle.
• Execute DMPK-BA strategies from discovery through clinical development including design, execution, and interpretation of assays for biotherapeutics.
• Provide clear communication of DMPK-BA findings to leadership and governance bodies to advance Vertex programs.
• Build collaborations with Biology, Preclinical Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, CMC, and other R&D disciplines to align DMPK-BA strategy with program goals.
• Implement innovative technologies and approaches to enhance impact.
• Provide scientific and managerial leadership to prioritize and execute on deliverables and project needs.
• Ensure scientific excellence and regulatory compliance in DMPK documents and reports (INDs, etc.).
• Hire, develop, manage, and retain key talent to maintain a high-performing team.
• Develop internal/external sourcing strategies and contribute to resource planning and budgeting.
• Participate in business development opportunities.
