Job summary

The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center seeks an Executive Director of Coding to lead enterprise-wide centralized coding operations, improve accuracy and compliance, and drive revenue-cycle excellence.

This role partners with Clinical Operations, Finance, Quality and IT to align coding with strategic goals and implement AI-enabled tools. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree, 10 years in finance/accounting with 5+ years in leadership, and licenses such as RHIA/CPHIMS/CPC.

Qualifications

• Required: Ten (10) years of professional progressive experience in finance, accounting, or related fields.
• Five years of leadership experience.
• Knowledge of large-scale Professional and Technical patient coding requirements and clinical implications.
• Excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to function under pressure due to time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight for centralized coding operations and revenue cycle functions.
• Establish enterprise-wide coding strategy, standards, and performance expectations.
• Drive continuous improvement in coding accuracy, compliance, and financial performance.
• Collaborate with Clinical Operations, Finance, Quality, Compliance and IT to align coding with organizational goals.
• Lead integration and optimization of AI-enabled coding technologies (CAC, NLP, automation).
