About the Work

For over 40 years, Friends of Nevada Wilderness has helped permanently protect over 6.9 million acres of Nevada's mountains, deserts, and dark skies, establishing the organization as a leader in public lands policy in the state. In addition to its advocacy campaigns that work to protect public lands through legislation and administrative efforts, the organization's nationally-recognized stewardship program keepstrails maintained and access open across Nevada's wild places for hikers, hunters, ranchers and others seeking an experience in nature. From local stakeholders, the halls of Congress to remote trailheads, Friends of Nevada Wilderness unites policy expertise, public education, and boots-on-the-ground stewardship to ensure Nevada's wildest places remain wild and cared for — not just for this generation, but for all who come after.
