Job description

The client seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization through a leadership transition while building on a long-standing record of conservation impact across the Amargosa Basin. Reporting to The client's Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide strategic, operational, and financial leadership, serving as the organization's primary ambassador and champion for its mission. In this role, the Executive Director will lead and develop a talented staff team, cultivate partnerships, strengthen organizational sustainability, and represent The client with a wide range of constituents, including community members, Tribal Nations, government agencies, elected officials, conservation partners, funders, and supporters.

With a focus on protecting wilds, waters, and communities, the Executive Director will help sustain The client's role as a trusted voice for conservation and a respected partner to local communities and stakeholders. The organization emphasizes science, stewardship, advocacy, and community engagement, and the Executive Director is expected to reinforce these efforts through relationship-driven leadership. Success in the first year is expected to be driven more by building trust and deepening relationships than by launching new initiatives, while also supporting staff development and helping chart a thoughtful vision for the future.

The Executive Director must be based in Las Vegas or the Amargosa Basin (near Las Vegas, NV or Shoshone-Tecopa, CA), while working remotely. Frequent travel within the region is expected (10-20%). The client is seeking a curious, thoughtful, and collaborative leader who understands that lasting conservation outcomes are built through trust, partnership, and a shared commitment to place.
