Job summary

Nevada Land Trust (NLT) is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Conservation Director to lead its conservation program in Nevada. The role oversees land acquisitions, conservation easements, and large-scale collaborations, working closely with the Executive Director and Board to expand impact.

The Director will mentor staff, develop strategic plans, and secure funding through grants and partnerships, ensuring long-term stewardship of protected lands.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively responsible land conservation or natural resources experience.
• Experience in land trust or environmental nonprofit organizations.
• Direct experience working with board committees.
• Experience developing strategic alliances and partnerships.
• Track record of leading complex conservation projects from beginning to closing.
• Experience securing and managing grants and funding.
• Excellent speaking, writing, and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee land acquisitions, conservation easements, and large projects.
• Develop and execute the Strategic Conservation Plan with the Executive Director and Board.
• Supervise and mentor conservation staff; foster collaboration.
• Manage land protection programs and negotiations with landowners and agencies.
• Oversee budgets, grants, and funding opportunities for protection efforts.
• Develop management plans for properties and oversee stewardship programs.
• Represent the organization to partners, landowners, and community groups.
