Job description

Description

Executive Director

Jasper | Prescott Valley, AZ

$115,000–$125,000 + Comprehensive Benefits + 16 Paid Holidays

Hiring range based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Collaboration. Authenticity. Connection. Balance.

At Cohere, we believe community is the most valuable amenity.

We do more than manage communities—we help create places where people connect, belong, and thrive. By partnering with some of the nation’s most innovative master-planned communities, we create places residents are proud to call home and where meaningful relationships flourish.

We’re looking for an Executive Director to lead our team at Jasper, a mountainside community in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Jasper is also home to J Club, a private amenity experience that is open to the public through membership.

In this role, you’ll oversee the full community operation while serving as a key partner to the developer, residents, board members, and internal Cohere teams. You’ll lead community operations, governance, engagement, communications, amenities, and financial performance while helping bring the broader vision for Jasper to life.

This is a small but mighty team, so we’re looking for a leader who is comfortable setting direction and making strategic decisions while also being willing to jump in and help get the work done.

If you’re an experienced community management leader who builds trust, creates strong partnerships, takes ownership of outcomes, and understands both the strategic and day-to-day sides of running a community, we’d love to meet you.

Why People Choose Cohere

The best communities are built by people who feel supported, valued, and empowered to do their best work. That’s why we invest in benefits, time away, and professional growth that help our team members thrive both personally and professionally.

Highlights Include:

  • Medical coverage available on your first day
  • Employer-paid dental coverage
  • Vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Employer-paid Life Insurance, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability coverage
  • Pet insurance options
  • Employee Assistance Program with mental health, financial, legal, and family support resources
  • Travel assistance and identity theft protection
  • Complimentary will preparation services
  • Generous paid time off
  • 16 paid holidays each year, including a Birthday Day and Volunteer Day, in addition to PTO
  • Professional development and growth opportunities
What You’ll Do

Lead the Community

  • Oversee the on-site team and all aspects of community operations, governance, engagement, communications, amenities, and service delivery.
  • Set clear expectations, develop the team, and create the systems and structure needed for a strong community operation.
  • Maintain a visible and consistent leadership presence throughout the community.
  • Lead by example and be willing to work alongside the team when needed.
  • Create an environment where residents, members, partners, and team members feel welcomed, heard, and valued.

Partner with the Developer and Board

  • Work closely with developer partners and boards of directors to carry out community priorities and contractual responsibilities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and central point of contact for key community matters.
  • Build trust through proactive, transparent communication and clear follow-through.
  • Provide professional guidance, recommendations, updates, and reporting to board and developer partners.
  • Partner with developer and marketing teams to ensure the community management perspective is represented in ongoing planning and development.
  • Approach governance through education, collaboration, transparency, and mutual respect.

Own Operations and Financial Performance

  • Develop and execute strategic plans across community operations, engagement, and communications.
  • Develop annual budgets and operating plans aligned with community priorities and approved goals.
  • Monitor financial and operational performance and adjust as needed.
  • Take ownership of challenges through resolution rather than simply handing them off.
  • Ensure contractual responsibilities, community standards, and service expectations are consistently met.
  • Maintain strong standards across community operations, amenities, programs, and the overall resident experience.

Build Community and Relationships

  • Develop meaningful relationships with residents, members, volunteers, community organizations, local partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities that strengthen participation, connection, and community involvement.
  • Create and support community-building initiatives that bring people together and strengthen a sense of belonging.
  • Encourage volunteerism and resident involvement in shaping the community.
  • Build mutually beneficial partnerships with local organizations, civic groups, public agencies, and other community stakeholders.
  • Foster shared ownership by collaborating with residents, boards, developers, vendors, and internal teams when making decisions that impact the community.

Lead the Team

  • Recruit, develop, coach, and lead a team of community professionals.
  • Create clear expectations, accountability, and opportunities for team members to grow.
  • Model professionalism, collaboration, strong communication, and exceptional service.
  • Bring out the best in team members while maintaining accountability for results.
  • Share knowledge, celebrate success, and contribute to a culture where the team works together to solve problems and support the community.
What We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years of experience in community-based organizations, nonprofit management, community operations, governance, community building, or a closely related environment.

  • Background in marketing, communications, or public relations is beneficial.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays as community needs require.
  • Ability to provide your own transportation and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods.
