Description

Executive Director

Silverwood | Hesperia, CA

$105,000–$115,000 + Up to 10% Annual Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits + 16 Paid Holidays

Hiring range based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Collaboration. Authenticity. Connection. Balance.

At Cohere, we believe community is the most valuable amenity.

We do more than manage communities—we help create places where people connect, belong, and thrive. By partnering with some of the nation's most innovative master-planned communities, we create places residents are proud to call home and where meaningful relationships flourish.

We’re looking for an Executive Director to lead our team at Silverwood, one of Southern California’s largest new master-planned communities. Centered around its Life Panoramic vision, Silverwood will ultimately span more than 9,000 acres and 15,000 homes, with nearly half of its land dedicated to open space, conservation, parks, trails, and the Serrano Preserve.

In this role, you’ll provide overall leadership for Community Life at Silverwood, partnering closely with the developer, boards, residents, community stakeholders, and your on-site team to help shape a connected, active, and thriving community.

This is an opportunity to lead at both the strategic and community level—setting direction, developing your team, overseeing operations and financial performance, and building the relationships that will help define Silverwood as it grows.

If you’re a strong, visible leader who knows how to bring people together, navigate complex stakeholder relationships, and turn a community vision into meaningful experiences and strong operations, we’d love to meet you.

Why People Choose Cohere

The best communities are built by people who feel supported, valued, and empowered to do their best work. That's why we invest in benefits, time away, and professional growth that help our team members thrive both personally and professionally.

Highlights Include:

  • Medical coverage available on your first day
  • Employer-paid dental coverage
  • Vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Employer-paid Life Insurance, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability coverage
  • Pet insurance options
  • Employee Assistance Program with mental health, financial, legal, and family support resources
  • Travel assistance and identity theft protection
  • Complimentary will preparation services
  • Generous paid time off
  • 16 paid holidays each year, including a Birthday Day and Volunteer Day, in addition to PTO
  • Professional development and growth opportunities

What You'll Do

Lead the Community
  • Provide overall leadership for Silverwood’s Community Life team and oversee community operations, governance, engagement, communications, amenities, and programs.
  • Set clear direction for the team while building the systems, expectations, and culture needed to support a growing community.
  • Serve as a visible and trusted resource for residents, partners, and community stakeholders.
Build Strong Partnerships
  • Work collaboratively with Silverwood’s developer partners and board(s) of directors, ensuring Cohere’s contractual commitments and scopes of work are fulfilled.
  • Serve as a central point of contact and problem-solving resource for community stakeholders.
  • Build productive relationships with local organizations, civic groups, public agencies, and other partners that can strengthen the community.
Shape Community Life
  • Develop and implement community-building initiatives that encourage connection, participation, and a strong sense of belonging.
  • Partner with residents and stakeholders to create opportunities for involvement, volunteerism, and shared ownership of the community.
  • Collaborate with developer and marketing partners so the Community Life perspective is represented as Silverwood continues to grow.
Drive Strategy & Operations
  • Develop and execute strategic plans across community operations, engagement, and communications.
  • Lead annual budgeting and operating planning and monitor performance against established goals.
  • Ensure community standards, governance, service delivery, and overall community operations reflect a high level of professionalism and stewardship.

What We're Looking For

  • 7–10 years of experience in community-based organizations, community operations, governance, nonprofit management, community development, or related work.
  • Significant senior leadership experience, ideally within a large-scale master-planned community or similarly complex environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and managing multiple operational priorities.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Experience working collaboratively with boards, developers, residents, community partners, or other diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and public-speaking skills.
  • Ability to think strategically while remaining comfortable getting involved in day-to-day issues when needed.
  • Experience with real estate/community development, municipal or public agencies, marketing/communications, or volunteer groups is beneficial.
  • CAI, CMCA, or PCAM designation and a college degree are preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • This position is based on-site at Silverwood in Hesperia, California.
  • Typical schedule is Monday–Friday within approximately 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with flexibility based on community and team needs.
  • Availability for occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends to support community meetings and events.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation required.
