Job summary

The Edward King House Senior Center seeks an experienced Executive Director to lead Newport County’s nationally recognized senior center, guiding growth, partnerships, and aging‑services programs with a emphasis on dignity and independence.

Reporting to the Board, you will oversee strategy, finances, staff, and fundraising efforts to enhance programs serving thousands of older adults and caregivers in Newport County.

Responsibilities

• Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the organization and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, financial stewardship, operational oversight, staff leadership, resource development, community engagement, and implementation of the organization's mission and strategic goals.
• The Executive Director works collaboratively with the Board, staff, volunteers, members, donors, municipal leaders, and community partners to ensure the continued success and long-term sustainability of the organization.

The Edward King House Senior Center (EKHSC) is seeking an experienced, visionary, and compassionate Executive Director to lead one of Rhode Island's most respected senior centers into its next chapter of growth and innovation.

Located in the heart of historic Newport, Rhode Island, the Edward King House has served older adults for more than six decades by providing opportunities for lifelong learning, wellness, social engagement, volunteerism, and community connection. As a nationally recognized leader in healthy aging, the Center offers more than 90 programs and services annually, serving thousands of older adults and caregivers throughout Newport County.

Position Summary

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.


• Five or more years of progressively responsible nonprofit or executive leadership experience.


• Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant development, and financial management.


• Experience working with a Board of Directors.


• Knowledge of aging services, health and human services, or community-based programming is highly desirable.
