Job summary

OPPO seeks an Executive Director to lead our Midvale, Utah operations and empower the leadership team to execute the organization's strategic vision. You will drive financial discipline, regulatory compliance, and exceptional client care across a growing program.

The role reports to the CEO and requires strong executive presence, 5+ years of senior leadership experience, and DSPD/DHHS contract familiarity. Regional travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or comparable executive-level experience preferred.
  • Minimum five years of senior leadership experience in administration and HCBS, preferred.
  • Experience with DSPD/DHHS contracts and Workforce Services is expected.
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and build a high-performing leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead OPPO's Utah operations and support the leadership team in executing the strategic vision.
  • Ensure financial discipline, regulatory compliance, and high-quality client care.
  • Oversee DSPD and Workforce Services contracts with the State of Utah.
  • Develop and mentor management, drive growth targets, and report to the CEO monthly.
  • Foster an collaborative culture and respond to emergencies as needed.

Summary of the Role

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for leading, understanding, and overseeing OPPO's growing Utah operations. The Executive Director ensures the leadership team is supported in executing the organization's strategic vision while leading by example and embodying OPPO's mission of creating safe, happy, and healthy OPPOrtunities for clients and employees.

The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring financial discipline, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, organizational culture, and the highest level of care for our clients. This role provides strategic leadership, develops and mentors the management team, and drives sustainable organizational growth. The ideal Executive Director is committed to making OPPO their long‑term professional home while building a lasting legacy alongside the organization's continued success.

The Executive Director reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Prerequisites
  • Contract experience working with DSPD and/or DHHS.
  • Contract experience working with Workforce Services regarding Vocational Rehabilitation.
  • Experience with organic business growth and business development.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build upon a strong organizational culture.
  • Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations.
  • Bachelor's Degree required (MBA or comparable executive‑level experience preferred, but not required).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of senior leadership experience (administration and HCBS experience preferred).
  • Mastery of, or ability to quickly master, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, email, and other computer‑based applications.
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, plan strategically, and effectively delegate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional executive presence.
  • Humility and a collaborative leadership style.
  • Oversee OPPO's DSPD contract with the State of Utah.
  • Oversee Workforce Services contracts with the State of Utah.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Review and respond appropriately to Incident Reports.
  • Achieve or exceed annual organizational growth targets, including a minimum of 20% growth in revenue and Net Operating Income (NOI).
  • Lead people, improve systems and processes, and implement practical solutions in a respectful, collaborative, and positive manner.
  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and support a high‑performing leadership team.
  • Serve as the organization's primary operational problem solver.
  • Prepare and submit a monthly Executive Director Report to the CEO by the 10th of each month.
  • Demonstrate the flexibility to perform any role necessary to support the organization, its employees, and its clients.
  • Maintain consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen organizational relationships.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, including those occurring during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ensure the organization maintains exceptional client care, employee engagement, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability.
