  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation partners.
  • Oversee Development Staff to support and prioritize all fundraising efforts, including grants, annual campaigns, and special events.

Job description

Salary: $100k - $140k commensurate with experience

Position Summary

The Executive Director provides overall leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the organization. The ED is accountable for organizational performance, sustainability, and growth, including responsibility for fundraising, human resources, financial management, and organizational compliance.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of nonprofit or related leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and revenue generation, including major gifts and institutional funding
  • Experience working with and engaging a Board of Directors
  • Strong relationship-building and external communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action
  • Experience with nonprofit financial and operational oversight preferred
  • Familiarity with government grants and compliance environments a plus
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead organizational vision, strategic planning, continuous improvement and growth initiatives
  • Partner with the Board of Directors to establish priorities and direction
  • Ensure alignment across programs, fundraising, and operations
  • Develop and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including annual goals and revenue targets
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation partners
  • Oversee Development Staff to support and prioritize all fundraising efforts, including grants, annual campaigns, and special events
Board Relations
  • Serve as primary liaison to the Board of Directors, providing timely, accurate updates on performance, finances, risks, and progress toward strategic goals
  • Communicate regularly with the Board President and Executive Committee on significant developments and funding needs
Human Resources & Organizational Leadership
  • Provide overall HR leadership, including hiring and performance management
  • Establish and maintain HR policies, procedures, and compliance standards
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, high-performing culture and ensure consistency across teams
  • Develop and manage organizational and program budgets; monitor financial performance and cash flow
  • Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting to the Board; oversee bookkeeping, payroll, and audit preparation
  • Oversee grant/contract invoicing and reporting; ensure compliance with funding requirements and restrictions
  • Ensure organization-wide compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; identify and mitigate risk
Organizational Oversight & External Relations
  • Supervise Director of Programs, Director of Communications & Outreach, and Development Manager
  • Serve as principal spokesperson, representing the organization with funders, donors, government agencies, media, and the public
  • Oversee the design, delivery, and quality of all programs, ensuring they align with mission and strategic goals
