Job summary

Douglass Community Services, Inc. in Hannibal, MO seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization, set strategic direction, and oversee programs serving children, families, and individuals. You will work closely with the Board and leadership team to ensure growth, sustainability, and meaningful community impact.

The role focuses on strategic leadership, fiscal stewardship, and building partnerships with funders to expand services and outcomes across Head Start, housing, and CASA programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership or managerial experience in a nonprofit, human services, or educational organization.
• Demonstrated experience writing, managing, and overseeing federal grants.
• Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft365 and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and direction for the organization’s programs, services, and initiatives.
• Develop and execute long-term strategic plans aligned with the agency’s mission and community needs.
• Oversee daily operations while ensuring organizational effectiveness and sustainability.
• Build partnerships with donors, funders, community partners, and stakeholders to expand impact.

Position Overview

The Executive Directorserves as thechief executive leaderof Douglass CommunityServices, providing strategicand operational leadershipwhile working closelywith the Boardof Directors, staff, community partners, andfunders. This roleis responsible forensuring the organization’scontinued growth, sustainability, and effectiveness inserving children, families, and individuals throughoutthe community.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000 annually
• Paid Time Off: 14 paid holidaysplus a 2-week Winter Shutdown(valued at over$10,000 in paidtime away)
• Upfront Leave: 40 hours ofPTO and 24hours of unpaidtime off availableimmediately
• PTO Accrual: Earn 6.25% ofhours worked fromdate of hire, with progressive increasesafter the firstyear

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Provide visionary leadershipand direction forthe organization’s programs, services, and initiatives.
• Develop and executelong-term strategicplans aligned withthe agency’s missionand community needs.
• Oversee daily operationswhile ensuring organizationaleffectiveness and sustainability.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, mentor, andsupport the executiveleadership team, includingthe CFO, CHRO, andprogram Directors.
• Foster a collaborativeculture focused onaccountability, innovation, and excellence.
• Support program leadersacross Head Start, Housing,Foster GrandparentProgram (FGP), VolunteerPrograms, and CASA.

Financial & Grant Oversight

• Maintain strong fiscaloversight of agencyoperations, budgets, andfinancial planning.
• Ensure compliance withapplicable regulations,contracts,and fundingrequirements.
• Provide oversight offederal grants, includingmonitoring expendituresand supporting successfulgrant management.

Community Relations & Fundraising

• Serve as thepublic face andadvocate for DouglassCommunity Services.
• Build and maintainstrong relationshipswithdonors, funders, communitypartners, and stakeholders.
• Expand fundraising opportunitiesand revenue-generatinginitiatives to supportorganizational growth.
