Job summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking a Deputy Finance Director to serve as the CFO’s principal deputy, guiding day-to-day operations and the Financial and Management Services Department. You will lead managers, ensure GAAP/GASB compliance, and partner with City leadership to translate complex financial information into actionable decisions.

You may serve as Acting CFO and represent the department with executive leadership and external partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in governmental financial administration or accounting.
• Supervisory experience overseeing accounting or budget managers.
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for governmental accounting and financial reporting, including year-end close and audit coordination.
• Oversee treasury, cash and investment management, internal controls, and related financial administration.
• Develop and implement long-range financial planning, policy, and multi-year budgeting strategies.
• Translate complex financial information into clear recommendations for executive leaders and departments.
