Job summary

The Kings County Human Services Agency seeks a Deputy Director to provide executive leadership and oversight for the Fiscal Division and other core areas. This at-will, executive-level role directs operations, manages staff, and ensures effective service delivery for Kings County families.

The successful candidate works with senior management to advance the Agency’s mission, monitor programs, and ensure compliance with policies and budgets while building strategic partnerships across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social science, psychology, public or business administration, human resources, or related field.
• Master's degree highly desirable and may substitute for one year of non-supervisory experience.
• Three years of management-level experience in a California County Human Services Agency, or relevant public agency.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license at time of appointment.
• Qualify for security clearance through a background investigation and fingerprint check; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, manages, and oversees the daily functions, operations, and activities of the assigned division within the Human Services Agency.
• Participates in development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the division; monitors efficiency and effectiveness of programs.
• Confers with the Director and management on policies, personnel matters, and budget.
• Oversees division budget, staffing, equipment, and supplies; ensures compliance with funding.
• Directs staff development, discipline, and evaluations of assigned personnel.
• Develops and manages contracts and ensures service quality and compliance.
